Jonathan T. Chow is Assistant Professor of Political Science at Wheaton College in Massachusetts, where he teaches in the International Relations and Asian Studies programs.
Dr. Chow’s research focuses on Southeast Asian regional politics, “pariah states”, constructivist international relations theory, and the transnational politics of the Roman Catholic Church. At Wheaton College, he teaches courses on international relations, international security, Chinese and US foreign policy, regional politics in East Asia, and nationalism in Southeast Asia. His work has been published in various outlets, including Contemporary Security Policy, Pacific Affairs, the Australian Journal of International Affairs, the Review of International Political Economy, Asian Survey, The Asan Forum, and The Diplomat.
Dr. Chow has previously taught at the University of Macau (Macau SAR, China), Reed College, and Amherst College. He has also served as a Research Fellow at the Asan Institute for Policy Studies (Seoul, Korea), a Visiting Fellow at the Ateneo Center for Asian Studies at Ateneo de Manila University (Manila, Philippines), and Project Director at the Berkeley APEC Study Center at the University of California, Berkeley.
Dr. Chow holds dual B.A. degrees in Political Science (with highest honors) and Chinese from Williams College, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley.
